Upoznali smo se sa najnovijim zaključcima i istraživanjima na ovom polju i na taj načćin stekli veliku prednost i mogućnost da to znanje prenesemo i široj zajednici. The NIR2012 Workshop that came to an end on Friday 11 May at 3 pm saw the participation of 180 delegates from 40 countries worldwide attended. 35 posters were displayed and 6 exhibitors participated in the Workshop. Additionally, the workshop was followed around the world online via a live stream. In the next days the pdfs of the presentations will be offered to the participants who attended the workshop. Videos of the presentations are also intended in the next weeks.

Experts from all relevant scientific disciplines (i.e. physics & engineering, biology and epidemiology) presented the most recent advances of research and protection in the different areas of NIR, including electromagnetic fields and optical radiation. In the last few years, ICNIRP has revised most of its protection guidelines, and the workshop provided participants with a comprehensive overview of updated recommendations, methodology for their development, scientific rationale, and recommended restrictions on exposure.

2012 marked ICNIRP’s 20th anniversary. Since its inception in 1992 the Commission has provided scientific advice on all NIR, and developed guidelines that are now largely in use around the world. It has maintained and asserted itself as an authoritative, interest-free organization in NIR protection. Its activities will continue with monitoring of research, refinement of the protection methods, and assistance in the development of health policies worldwide. With the contribution of all ICNIRP members, the workshop in Edinburgh provided the attendants with a unique opportunity for extensive discussion of all issues related to NIR protection.

Digitalno doba protiv muškaraca: Kako im laptop može oštetiti spermu?!

Digitalno doba negativno djeluje na muškarce, ako vjerujete u najnovija znanstvena otkrića koja povezuju laptope, bežične mreže i – spermu. I prije se znalo da je toplina iz laptopa povezana sa ‘kuhanjem’ sperme, međutim u vezi sa tim, čini se, ima još loših vijesti.

U novom istraživanju koje je objavio medicinski magazin “Fertility and Sterility” argentinski znanstvenici opisali su kako su uzeli spermu od 29 zdravih muškaraca i nekoliko kapi smjestili ispod laptopa spojenog na internet preko Wi-Fi veze. Četiri sata kasnije sperma je bila uništena.

U četvrtini sperme spermatozoidi više nisu plivali u poređenju sa samo 14 posto umrtvljenih spermatozoida koja je bila pohranjena na sobnoj temperaturi, podalje od kompjutera.

Devet posto sperme pokazalo je oštećenja DNA, trostruko više od sperme na sobnoj temperaturi koja ja služila za poređenje rezultata.

Uzrok? Elektromagnetsko zračenje koje nastaje tokom bežične komunikacije, kaže Conrado Avendano sa klinike Nascentis Medicina Reproductiva u Kordobi.

“Naši podaci pokazuju da korištenje laptopa bežično povezanog na internet i smještenog blizu muških reproduktivnih organa može smanjiti kvalitetu sperme”, napisali su znanstvenici u svom radu.

“Za sada ne znamo je li ovaj efekt izazivaju svi laptopi povezani Wi-Fi vezom na internet i koji uvjeti dovode do pojačavanja ovog efekta”.
